This technical note clarifies the origin and interpretation of the irregular crop condition documented in Plot 18 before the weed-control event. Its purpose is to distinguish establishment-related variability from treatment effects and from the later field-wide injury documented in PDG Field Report No. 5.
The clarification is limited to causal traceability. It identifies conditions that could not reasonably have been produced by Treatment T15, while preserving the analytical limitations created by subsequent confounding field events.
Uneven seed placement, localized excessive depth, incomplete emergence and discontinuous crop rows.
Localized yellowing interpreted in the context of uneven rooting and prolonged soil saturation.
A separate event following the weed-control application, addressed in Field Report No. 5.
The interpretation is based on visible spatial and crop-condition features documented within Plot 18:
The spatial pattern documented in Plot 18 is characteristic of uneven crop establishment rather than a treatment-induced phytotoxic response. Missing rows, incomplete emergence and development differences aligned with individual seed rows indicate variability associated with seed placement, localized planting depth and incomplete row establishment.
The irregular stand establishment, missing or discontinuous crop rows, variable plant density and uneven early development observed in Plot 18 were not caused by Treatment T15. These conditions are consistent with variability generated during the seeding operation, particularly uneven seed placement, excessive planting depth in localized sections and incomplete row establishment.
The early chlorosis observed within Plot 18 must be interpreted in the context of irregular crop establishment, variable rooting conditions and prolonged soil saturation. Plants emerging from different depths or under uneven root-zone conditions would not be expected to develop uniformly under the rainfall and saturation conditions recorded during the trial.
The photographic evidence does not support Treatment T15 as the cause of the establishment pattern or the localized early yellowing. The visible distribution does not present a uniform treatment-response pattern across the treated plot.
Important distinction: This interpretation excludes T15 as the cause of the physical establishment pattern. It does not claim that every instance of yellowing can be assigned to one single factor.
Treatment T15 consisted of Humi-Ful 8 at 5 mL combined with Pep-Tex-Plus at 6.25 mL. No photographic pattern was identified that would support this treatment as the cause of the missing rows, discontinuous emergence or uneven stand density.
The treatment identity and applied quantities are included for traceability and should not be interpreted as evidence of causation. The available record supports separation of the treatment from the pre-existing physical establishment pattern.
PDG Field Report No. 5 addresses the subsequent crop injury associated with the weed-control application and its interaction with pre-existing field stress. The more severe crop injury observed after that application represents a separate field event and should not be retrospectively attributed to the Humi-Ful 8 and Pep-Tex-Plus treatment applied to Plot 18.
This clarification note does not modify the conclusions of Report No. 5. It establishes that the irregular stand condition in Plot 18 had a separate origin related to crop-establishment mechanics and was present before the later weed-control injury.
The field record supports exclusion of Treatment T15 as the cause of the physical establishment pattern. However, because the trial was subsequently affected by multiple confounding factors, the available evidence is not sufficient to quantify the agronomic performance of the treatment.
Those confounding factors include variable seed depth, discontinuous row establishment, prolonged soil saturation, weed pressure, differences in drainage and the later non-selective weed-control exposure described in Report No. 5. Accordingly, absence of evidence of treatment-induced establishment damage must not be converted into a claim of treatment efficacy.
The missing or discontinuous crop rows, irregular plant density and uneven early development observed in Plot 18 are consistent with seeding-operation and crop-establishment variability and were not caused by Treatment T15.
The early localized chlorosis must be interpreted within the combined context of uneven establishment, variable rooting and prolonged soil saturation. The severe injury observed after the weed-control application was a later and separate field event addressed in PDG Field Report No. 5.
Treatment T15 is therefore excluded as the cause of the physical establishment pattern; however, the compromised trial conditions do not allow a quantitative determination of its agronomic performance.
Neutral technical terminology has been used throughout: seeding-operation variability, seed-placement variability, uneven planting depth, incomplete row establishment and crop-establishment mechanics. The note identifies physical mechanisms and does not assign personal responsibility.
